THE JERUSALEM CROSS BUTTONThe Jerusalem cross, also known as Crusaders' cross, is an heraldic cross or Christian symbol consisting of a large Greek cross surrounded by four smaller Greek crosses, one in each quadrant. The simpler form of the cross is known as the "Crusaders' Cross", because it was on the papal banner given to the Crusaders by Pope Urban II for the First Crusade, and was a symbol of the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem. The four smaller crosses are said to symbolize either the four books of the Gospel or the four directions in which the Word of Christ spread from Jerusalem. Alternately, all five crosses can symbolize the five wounds of Christ during the Passion. The Jerusalem Cross is also the logo for Emmaus: Guest House of Transitus Oblates of the Last Martyrdom Price: $.50 Learn More | Purchase |

ST BENEDICT & THE HOLY RULE BUTTONGirded with a faith, and the performance of good works, let us follow in Christ's path by the guidance of the Gospel; then we shall deserve to see him "who has called us into his kingdom." If we wish to attain a dwelling place in his kingdom, we shall not reach it unless we hasten there by our good deeds. Just as there exists an evil fervor, a bitter spirit, which divides us from God and leads us to hell, so there is a good fervor which sets us apart from evil inclinations and leads us toward God and eternal life. No one should follow what he considers to be good for himself, but rather what seems good for another. Let them put Christ before all else; and may he lead us all to everlasting life. -- from the Rule of Saint Benedict Price: $.50 Learn More | Purchase |

CIMABUE SANTA CROCE CRUCIFIX BUTTONThis is one of Cimabue's early works, he painted it around 1265, before his journey to Rome in 1272. Cimabue, whose real name was Cenni di Pepo, was Giotto's master and was mainly famous for a later masterpiece: the crucifix in Santa Croce in Florence. But after the flood in 1966 in Florence, which partly destroyed the crucifix, this work has become more important. Here he brilliantly breaks away from the Byzantine style, not only in technique, but also in his more “humane” vision of the tragedy of Calvary: instead of a triumphant Christ, he paints a suffering Christ who carries the weight of the sin of man. He is, in fact, laying the basis for Giotto's great innnovations and announcing the Italian Renaissance style. Price: $.50 Learn More | Purchase |

The oldest known surviving example of the icon of Christ Pantocrator was painted in encaustic on panel in the sixth or seventh century, and survived the period of destruction of images during the Iconoclastic disputes that racked the Eastern church, 726 to 787 and 814 to 842, by being preserved in the remote desert of the Sinai, in Saint Catherine's Monastery. THEOTOKOS PANAGIA OF THE PASSION (SINAI) BUTTONThis 1579 A.D. icon is of the “Panagia” (the Greek term for “All-Pure”) Virgin Mary for she was truly all pure and ever Virgin, for the catholic Church has taught in every generation of its history (from the Day of Pentecost) that Mary the Mother of God was pure from sin by her choice over her entire life. Icons of the Passion refer to the revelation to Christ of His coming Passion (rejection, beating, Crucifixion, and Death) at the end of His life, and here He looks up to see two angels showing Him the instruments of His Crucifixion. He holds the Virgin’s hand tightly, and his sandal falls off as His very real humanity recoils. Price: $.50 Learn More | Purchase |

THE DIVINE INFANT KING BUTTONThe Word of Eternal Truth comes into this poor world as the King of Love, the Infant King who reigns and reveals Himself in truth and charity. God allows no compromise, no belittlement, no bending Divine Truth. But He also permits no compromise, no belittlement, no bending of Divine Love. God shows is in the Infant King that Truth and Love can not be separated, but must form one Divine Unity. Truth without charity is cold ideology, and love without truth is empty sentimentality. Christ alone is the fullness of Truth and Charity in perfect harmony. The living symbol of this harmony is the Infant King, born in Bethlehem, to teach us through his Incarnation that, like him, we need to “live the truth in charity.” – Msgr. R.
